  • Chapman Historical Museum

The Chapman Museum is a restored home from the Victorian period with galleries and rotating exhibitions on the history of the Southern Adirondack Region. The Delong House reflects the lives of two generations of the DeLong family from 1860-1910. The tour emphasizes the lives of the Victorian families, which often involved a great deal of work from cooking on a coal stove to the daily cleaning out of the chamber pots! Come learn what life was like before TV, video games and the internet!

Close to many fine antique centers you can spend a day hunting for just that perfect piece. .The Adirondack area is a "shop-a-holics" paradise. Craft lovers will enjoy the areas abundant offering of unique craft shops and festivals. One of the most popular craft fairs is known as the LARAC Arts and Crafts Festival which takes place in mid June. Not to be discounted is Lake George Summer fest; Music, Arts and Crafts the last weekend in June and the Bolton Arts & Crafts show on July 4 weekend & the last weekend in August

Bargain Hunters will delight in the 70+ factory outlet shops. The Lake George region is also host to the "World’s Largest Garage Sale" held in nearby Warrensburg - in order to visit all the garage sales in this town, you will need the whole weekend (Oct).

  • The Adirondack Balloon Festival

 "This is a MUST SEE EVENT !!  All balloon events are held weather permitting, In the afternoon, when the balloons don't fly, the festival has musical entertainment, travel exhibits, kite flying and aircraft displays."  From just minutes away countless hot air balloons are launched mornings and evenings. Visible from our many decks, porches and patios, many of the balloons fly right over our property and give you a close encounter!

It is one of the top 100 events in the country according to event goers of the American Bus Association!  It is the ONLY reason, I would get up at 5am, so if you are looking for something GREAT to do this weekend... this is it. 

  • Go Apple Picking

Everybody looks forward to the fall because it means the time for apple picking has arrived! Apple pies, apple cakes, applesauce, apple picking.  From September to October, at Hicks Orchards, the gates are open to unveil tree limbs loaded and bending from the weight of gigantically delicious apples In addition to apples, you’ll find wet and wonderful pears and plump, purple plums hanging heavy and full and kissed golden from the sun, just waiting for you to pick. After your done picking stop inside for apple cider and donuts!

  • The Skenesborough Museum.

The Skenesborough Museum tells the story of the origin of Whitehall (originally called Skenesborough), dating back to 1759.

The museum, whose collection contains over four thousand items, is located in a nineteenth-century canal terminal building. The main exhibit is a 16 foot diorama of the 1776 shipyard, including the home and other commercial structures of Whitehall's founder, Philip Skene.

Ships built in Skenesborough, under the command of Benedict Arnold, played a vital role in delaying the British invasion, earning Whitehall the designation "Birthplace of the U.S. Navy."

The Rogers Island Visitors Center opened to the public on July 6, 2001.
